Playing with playdough provides many developmental benefits for children including grasp strength, motor planning, bilateral coordination, tactile play and enhancing their creativity. You can make your own at home!
Playdough Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup salt
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 cups lukewarm water
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (or coconut oil)
Food coloring (optional)
Stir together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a large pot. Add the water and oil. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue stirring until the dough has thickened and begins to form into a ball. Remove from heat and then place inside a gallon sized bag or onto wax paper. Allow to cool slightly and then knead until smooth. If you are adding colors, divide the dough into quart sized bags. Start with about 5 drops of color and add more to brighten. Knead the bag so it doesn’t stain your hands. Once it is all mixed together, you are ready to play!
This is a question many parents ask us.
Toe walking can be common in young children — especially when they are first learning to walk.
But if it continues over time, happens most of the day, or is paired with balance, coordination, or muscle tightness concerns, it may be something worth getting professional eyes on.
Early support can help children restore full ankle movement and muscle control that will help achieve a normal walking pattern.
If you’ve been wondering whether your child’s toe walking is typical or worth evaluating, you’re not alone. Our team is always happy to help guide families through next steps!

Friday, March 13th is FOXP1 Syndrome Awareness Day! This day was chosen to represent the location of the FOXP1 gene on chromosome 3p13 and aims to promote early diagnosis, support research, and raise awareness for this rare genetic condition. Symptoms of FOXP1 syndrome include developmental delays, speech and language deficits, atypical muscle tone, and neurological and behavioral challenges. Learn more at www.FOXP1.org and see how you can help support this cause.
